If you have a child, or grandchild, attending one of our venerable Modern Orthodox yeshiva high schools and think they are immune from the woke agenda we are seeing in public and elite private schools, think again.
As a former yeshiva high school parent, I was very disturbed to see the article about a local school’s high school seniors who traveled to Phoenix to perform “chesed” after being inspired by liberal activist Shmuely Yankelowitz, who spoke to them in school.
Obviously, Yankelowitz would disagree, but in my opinion, going out of your way to assist migrants who have entered the U.S. illegally does not qualify as doing chesed as much as aiding and abetting criminal activity. According to international law, in order to claim asylum one must make their claim in the first country one encounters after leaving their own. Did these kids not look at a map when speaking to these people? How did men from Uganda and Mauritania find their way to Phoenix?
Is it remotely possible that these kids are totally unaware of the havoc that the unprecedented number (7 million since Biden’s inauguration) of illegal immigrants is having on New York City? I’m guessing that some of these kids had great-great-great grandparents who entered the U.S. through legal channels. What an insult to their memory.
I’d like to think that there was no liberal activism going on at school when my child was a student there.
Or was there?
