It is no secret that liberals have dominated most college campuses in America. An integral part of the new alt-left liberal agenda is pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic propaganda. This agenda has infected Rutgers and now William Paterson, both in our own backyard.
I applaud and greatly admire the Jewish students at William Paterson for taking up the fight themselves against campus bigotry, because sadly, if history is any guide, they will get very little help from Jewish leaders and the Jewish community. At Rutgers, after some ineffective talks and meetings by local community leaders, and virtually no protests by the Jewish community at large, including parents and alumni, very little has changed on campus in regard to bigotry, and in fact has maybe gotten even worse. Months after all the complaints and “secret behind-the-scenes activity,” The Daily Targum, the Rutgers newspaper, came out with an outrageous article by The Students for Justice in Palestine on the Israeli “colonization” of Palestinian territory.
Jews love to complain among themselves about being victims of anti-Semitism, but rarely act, protest, challenge or demonstrate publicly to defend their rights. Worse, their liberal or left-leaning tendencies put the Jewish public and organizations like JDL, HIAS and the Union for Reform Judaism in the same camp as the “liberal” media, entertainment and campus radicals who wish to do us evil. This almost-suicidal Jewish involvement and open support of leftist anti-Israel, anti-Semitic movements is truly sad to see, and can only lead to great harm to us.
In short, Jews themselves are a major part of our troubles today and not part of the solution.
