(Courtesy of BPL) In what proved to be an extremely competitive contest, former Bergenfield resident Linda Mohr has been selected as the recipient of the 2023 Lucille Tendler Community Service Award. This award by the Board of Trustees of the Bergenfield Public Library recognizes the service contributions of the recipient to the Bergenfield community. Linda joins the ranks of previous winners Joe Verga, Matthew Connell, Jim Lodato, JoAnne Thomas, Robert Armbruster, Anna Ramirez, Eva Gallione and Gerard (Jerry) Naylis.
Before relocating to North Carolina, Lucille Tendler served diligently on the Bergenfield Library’s Board of Trustees for fourteen years, acting as president and secretary. During her tenure, she helped coordinate the library’s comprehensive strategic plan and advocated tirelessly on behalf of the library. In addition to her work with the Bergenfield Library, Tendler was also involved in several other community volunteer projects, including the Arts Council. This award is meant to honor her as a model for public service in a town that prides itself on volunteerism and civic engagement.
The Board of Trustees wishes to thank all of the individuals who participated in the nomination process. A certificate will be presented to the Friends of the Library on Mohr’s behalf at an upcoming library program.
