Livingston Unites for IEBECC $25,000 Fundraiser

The finish line.

Livingston’s Iris and Errol Berman Early Childhood Center (IEBECC) launched its highly anticipated annual match campaign, the “IEBECC Race to Raise,” on Feb. 20, the preschool’s largest and most impactful fundraiser of the year. This vibrant initiative serves as both a cornerstone of the school’s continued growth and a testament to the strength and generosity of the community it serves.

With a generous matching component doubling every donation, supporters had the opportunity to maximize their contributions. Excitement also surrounded the raffle prizes, with coveted $500 gift cards up for grabs. Another standout highlight of the campaign was the thrilling scavenger hunt on March 1 — an event that has become a beloved tradition within the community.

Nearly 40 participants of varying ages and backgrounds formed teams, uniting friends, families and neighbors for a night of friendly competition. Teams embarked on an exhilarating race, deciphering intricate clues that led them on a journey across Livingston and surrounding towns. The carefully curated clues challenged participants to think creatively, collaborate and explore familiar places with fresh eyes. The energy was palpable as teams raced against the clock, their laughter and camaraderie echoing throughout the evening.

The race is on.

The night culminated at the final destination, where participants were welcomed with a warm atmosphere featuring dinner and drinks. As anticipation filled the room, the winners of the scavenger hunt were announced to enthusiastic applause, followed by the eagerly awaited raffle prize drawing. The celebration served as a reminder of the power of community and the shared commitment to supporting the future of IEBECC.

The school director, Chaya Weisberg, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community for their unwavering support. “Thank you to everyone for contributing to our school to help make it grow. When I started four years ago, we had 19 students, and now we have 38 students. We opened a separate pre-K class this year, and it is thriving. This growth would not be possible without the dedication and generosity of our community.”

Longtime supporter Chany Chapman emphasized the event’s significance, saying, “The scavenger hunt has always been such a fun event in our community. It was a great opportunity to bring together the fundraiser for the preschool with an event that everyone loves. With almost $25,000 raised, the campaign was a huge success.”

Stopping for a clue.

The success of the IEBECC Race to Raise not only surpassed fundraising goals but also reinforced the school’s mission of providing a nurturing and inspiring early childhood education. The event exemplified how a shared vision, combined with community spirit, can create lasting impact, both for the present and the future of IEBECC’s students. As the preschool continues to grow and thrive, events like these highlight the invaluable role the school plays in shaping the next generation, one child at a time.
