At around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, Zadie’s Bake Shop sent out an SOS asking the community to come help move some pots, pans and other equipment to a temporary location after the tragic fire that destroyed their Fair Lawn store last week. Moshava Ba’ir New Jersey (MBNJ) eagerly answered the call as this week their focus is on chesed in honor of the Nine Days. “What an opportunity for us to model for our oldest campers how to help the community in a real time of need,” said Robyn Adams, assistant director at MBNJ. The campers worked together with other local residents to load a truck with broken bakery racks, mixers and more. One camper said, “This was more fun than our Hershey Park trip!” and thanked Zadie’s Bake Shop for the opportunity to help. Adams added, “We absolutely love Zadie’s Bake Shop and we hope to come visit the store when they reopen real soon!”
