“Give18” Campaign Launched Ahead of Chanukah Season
Teaneck—After watching the latest flare-up of violence in Israel on TV screens and reading daily reports about the heinous acts of terrorism against innocent civilians, a Teaneck businesswoman decided to lend a hand with her own homegrown initiative.
Ora Assayag, founder and CEO of Ora’s Amazing Herbal, launched the Give18 campaign to offer her customers the opportunity to automatically donate 18 percent of their purchases to Operation Embrace, an organization working with victims of terrorism.
“We realize that little we do or say here in America can have a direct effect on ending terrorism and bringing safety and security to the citizens of Israel, but that does not mean that we can’t lend a helping hand to those who need it most,” said Assayag. “In Hebrew, the number 18 represents life. By allowing our customers to donate directly every time they make a transaction, countless numbers of victims of terror will receive the extra care that they need most during these trying times. We hope this effort will be noticed and implemented by other local businesses so that we as a community can help even more.”
With the Chanukah gifting season soon upon us, Assayag realized that now would be the perfect time for well-meaning consumers to actively reach out to those in need in Israel. By offering online coupons and saving codes, the cooperating vendors can not only help shoppers find great products, but also allow their customers to donate meaningfully and with little extra effort.
A nutritionist by training, Assayag runs her family-owned herbal skincare company while placing an emphasis on conducting the business ethically and with social responsibility. “This is the perfect way for us to make a difference and do our small part in righting the terrible wrongs taking place in Israel,” she noted.
