In a recent Jewish Link article, Rabbi Ronald Schwarzberg, who is the head of rabbinical placement for Yeshiva University, lamented a shortage of modern Orthodox rabbis (“‘Great Resignation’ Impacts Orthodox Rabbinate Too, and What You Can Do,” March 24, 2022). A simple solution would be to turn to Beth Medrash Govoha, the big Lakewood yeshiva, where there are many aspiring rabbis awaiting positions. This would be a win-win situation where these young men could find positions to serve while shuls and communities can have their vacuums filled. At Congregation Zichron Dovid in West Orange, a Modern Orthodox community, we have started a small Lakewood community kollel, which has been working out well. May we experience more unity and the spreading of Torah and Tefillah.
