LPS Kindergarten Learns About the Body

Kindergarten students at Lubavitch on the Palisades culminated a unit on the human body with many different multi-sensory activities in which they explored the five senses and systems in the body. Students explored the senses of touch and smell by identifying different textures and scents while wearing a blindfold. They explored their sense of sight by using a magnifying glass to investigate random objects they encounter in their everyday lives and focused on the sense of taste with a salt and sugar taste test. They learned about the brain and the difference between the left side which is logical and the right side which is more imaginative and creative by sorting activities on their “thinking caps.” They used a stethoscope and to count the beats of their pulse and compared the rates after exercise and rest. They used balloons to demonstrate how their lungs and respiratory systems function and did experiments to show how food is broken down in the digestive system. Children learned an enormous amount about the human body while having a lot of fun!
