Lubavitch on the Palisades Celebrates Tu B’Shevat

(Lubavitch on the Palisades) In honor of Tu B’Shevat, the new year of the trees, families came together at Lubavitch on the Palisades for a fun evening “hiking” in Israel. The evening started with Rabbi Shain sharing with the children and parents the meaning of Tu B’Shevat, the custom to eat the seven fruits of Israel, and our special connection to the land. Tehillim and prayers were recited and tzedaka was given in the merit of our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land and for the safe return of our soldiers and hostages. Then, participants “visited” different cities in Israel and enjoyed special activities at each. At Jerusalem’s Machane Yehuda Shuk, participants enjoyed tasting the seven species of Israel and other delicious fruits. Planting new flowers, symbolizing rebuilding and rebirth, took place at Kibbutz Be’eri. Beautiful art was created in Tzfat, and refreshing smoothies were enjoyed in Teveria. It was a fun and meaningful Tu B’Shevat celebration for all.
