Students at Lubavitch on the Palisades School celebrated Lag B’Omer with trips, parades, special activities, bonfires and marshmallows. Rabbi Mordechai Shain and Mayor Peter Rustin marched in the streets of Tenafly with students of the preschool and elementary school. Kindergarten students learned about recycling when they visited the Material Recovery Center in Yonkers, NY. They saw truckloads of recyclables being delivered and dropped off, and were taken to an observation tower to view machinery that sorts and prepares materials. Also in honor of Lag B’Omer, children learned and acted out the story of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, who went into hiding from the Roman government and learned Torah with his son in a cave for thirteen years.
