(Courtesy of Lubavitch on the Palisades) Lubavitch on the Palisades took a moving and inspirational trip this week to the ohel (gravesite) of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Queens, in honor of his upcoming 28th yahrzeit. On the trip, participants learned together, wrote letters of petition and prayed at the gravesite. They then enjoyed a buffet dinner, inspirational speakers, and concluded with an impromptu farbrengen—sharing personal stories and experiences and joining together in uplifting song. Praying at the gravesite of a righteous individual is a well-known tradition in Judaism, and the individual’s yahrtzeit is an especially auspicious time to pray.
