The Retirees Lunch and Learn program returns on Tuesday, December 28, at 12 noon at Congregation Ohr Torah in Edison. “Rosenwald” is the incredible story of how a Jewish businessman and philanthropist Julius Rosenwald, owner of Sears, joined forces with Booker T. Washington and African-American communities in the segregationist Jim Crow South to build more than 5,000 schools. He was inspired by the Jewish doctrine of tikkun olam and deep concern over racial inequality in America.
The program is open to the first 50 registrants to allow for social distancing and includes a light lunch. All attendees must be vaccinated; a mask is optional. Preregistration is required; no walk-ins. please. There is a charge of $14 per person to defray the cost of the delicious dairy meal. RSVP to Mildred at 732-572-1712 or Bella at [email protected]. New registrants need to provide an email address and phone number.
