On March 26, the Ma’ayanot Rapids (2-0) started their season with a strong away victory at Flatbush. They defeated the Falcons (0-3) in Brooklyn 7-1.
Ma’ayanot jumped out to lead early, scoring five goals in the first period. The rest of the game was more even-handed as coach Aharon Goldwasser rotated a large number of players into the game. Junior goalkeeper Tamar Pasternack gave up only one goal in her first game played in high school hockey.
Rapids scorers included seniors Lily Fuchs, Kayla Tarlow and Chaya Ross; junior Daniella Ort; sophomore Kayla Spinowitz and freshman Shira Albert, in her first-ever outing as a Rapid. Junior Sarah Hanian had two goals and her linemate senior Eden Schechter had three assists.
Two days later, Ma’ayanot traveled even farther from home, going to Queens to take on the Central Wildcats (1-2-1). The Rapids took that game 3-1.
Central opened scoring with a goal in the first. But that would prove to be their only one for the night. Ma’ayanot scored three consecutive times (once per period) to seal their victory.
Rapids goals were scored by senior Fuchs, freshman Kira Jacobs and Schechter.
