Chanukah at Ma’ayanot was in full swing on Thursday when it came time for the annual chagiga. All the students and faculty, decked out in Chanukah gear—sweaters, pajamas, socks, dreidel costumes, and more!—entered the gym, decorated beautifully by the Holiday Enhancement Committee, to the sound of none other than the one and only Eitan Katz singing “Al HaNissim.” The chagiga began, and the ruach was beyond all expectations! Everyone sang and danced with tons of energy; the gym floor was practically shaking from all the feet jumping on it! Eventually, the music slowed down, and everyone gathered in the center of the gym for one of the most meaningful kumzitzes the school had yet this year. Between songs, Ma’aynot’s Rabbi Chanales, shared some thoughts about the nature of Chanukah, followed by Eitan Katz who shared a few inspiring words that made the singing that much more powerful. Following the kumzitz, the chagiga ended with donuts for everyone and one last upbeat dance party! The Ma’ayanot Chanukah chagiga will definitely be a day to remember!
