A nor’easter couldn’t stop Ma’ayanot’s team from flying to Israel, on March 7, to run in last Friday’s Jerusalem Marathon with Team Shalva. Students raised over $67,000 for Shalva National Children’s Center, which provides services to more than 2,000 individuals with disabilities. Ma’ayanot students also ran to raise funds for New Jersey Yachad and Chai Lifeline. At the race, the Ma’ayanot team met up with alumnae who are studying in seminaries or have made aliyah. Chaperones who ran with the students included Sarah Gordon, director of student activities and experiential education, Dr. Rayzel Yaish, director of guidance, and teacher, Dina Klapper.
Other highlights included hearing Esther Wachsman share the story of her son Nachshon, z”l, at his kever on Har Herzl, and a meaningful concert on the roof of Yeshivat HaKotel on motzei Shabbat. The group also had a fantastic hike to Har Gilboa and “Park Ha’Maayanot” (of course) on Sunday with Israel With Arky tour guide, Arky Staiman.
