The Ma’ayanot art department will present an art show, “Overcoming the Holocaust,” a moving depiction of the psychological aftermath of trauma and what it means to move on, creating a positive life for generations to come. Students’ artwork depicting images on the theme of arising up from the darkness to spread light will be on display at the Teaneck Library, 840 Teaneck Road, from April 2 through 30 and at the Bergenfield Library, 50 West Clinton Avenue, in May.
An opening of the exhibit, with an opportunity to meet the artists, will take place on April 18, Yom Hazikaron, at the Teaneck Library, 7:30-9 p.m. As art teacher Natalia Kadish points out, “The Lubavitcher Rebbe said that darkness, no matter how ominous and intimidating, is merely the absence of light. A thimbleful of light will banish a roomful of darkness. So let’s add light.” The exhibit will be on display during regular library hours.
