Ma’ayanot Seniors Choose Their Own Adventure

Senior year at Ma’ayanot gives students a chance to explore their personal areas of interest. First, instead of learning a fixed English Literature curriculum, Seniors choose their English class from an array of exciting and dynamic course offerings. The choices provided allow students to take the skills they have developed and honed over their years at Ma’ayanot and use them to dive deeply into a particular literary topic that interests them.

Examples of these exciting electives are: Nineteenth Century Gothic Literature; A Literary Feast: Reading and Writing about Food; Crime, Punishment, and Innocence in Literature; Grand Central Stories: New York in Literature. Ma’ayanot also offers an AP Literature and composition course.

In the spring, seniors have the opportunity to pursue an internship in a field of study that interests them as well as to explore topics that are not found in the formal curriculum but are compelling to students. These mini courses include topics such as Analyzing History Through Film, Mesilas Yesharim-Finding Your Way, An Overview of the Non-Orthodox Jewish Religious Denominations (Principles and Practice), Life on a Secular Campus (Halacha and Hashkafa), Fundamentals of Public Speaking Crash Course and more.
