Ma’ayanot Shines Bright on Chanukah

Despite the cold weather, the halls of Ma’ayanot were lit up with the excitement and fun of Chanukah! The week was jam-packed with programs and learning for the holiday. Every morning, students joined together for grade-wide communal Hallel, led by the seniors. Each grade had a blast at a socially-distanced silent DJ chagiga, complete with sufganiyot, as well as an educational and entertaining game of Chanukah Panoply, which tested the students’ knowledge of Chanukah, Torah and some famous Jews! Students also enjoyed a special “Winter Wonderland,” which consisted of fire pits, S’mores making, hot cocoa, delicious fresh latkes and a special demonstration by Jimmy from “Jimmy’s Artistic Creations,” who wowed everyone with amazing ice sculptures of a menorah and the Ma’ayanot shark! Throughout the week, students cheered on their faculty in the annual Dreidel Madness Tournament, and watched to see whose brackets would win! Students also participated in a communal candle-lighting ceremony outside, where they enjoyed singing together, and heard a special Chanukah performance from the student run Heartbeats production heads. With the added Chanukah present of a snow day, all in all, this was Chanukah to remember at Ma’ayanot!
