Nava Forman and Adira Schreiber, 10th graders at Ma’ayanot, came up with a creative and fun way to raise money for the health care workers at Holy Name Hospital. They realized that one of the most popular outdoor recreational activities these days is walking, so why not utilize it for a chesed opportunity? Together they devised a “scavenger hunt” for walkers. Requiring only an $18 sign-up fee per team and a smartphone or even old-fashioned camera, participants can win a gift certificate to one of four local kosher eateries.
By visiting their website, you will be provided with step-by-step instructions for participation in the hunt. Teams can be a maximum of either six people who live together or combinations of smaller groups. Items to be located and photographed include a five-way intersection, 20 fire hydrants, 15 stop signs, five street signs named for people, five dogs, a body of water and five varieties of flowers, to name a few. The 21st item, which is optional, is a picture of your favorite spot in Bergen County. The scores will be tallied and those teams that achieve the most points by the May 20 deadline will be awarded one of four gift certificates to Chopstix, Tavlin, The Humble Toast or Dougie’s.
So lace up your walking shoes, whip out your camera and walk for the dedicated health care workers at Holy Name. Visit https;//hunt4hopebergen.wixsite.com/hunt4hope or email [email protected].
Additional donations to Holy Name’s COVID-19 Relief Fund are welcome.
