Rain could not dampen the spirit of Ma’ayanot’s student leaders presenting during Ma’ayanot’s Student Activities Fair “under the big top” for freshmen, sophomores and transfer students. Ma’ayanot is committed to proactively and thoughtfully help students identify their interests, make meaningful choices and find opportunities to develop and share their talents. Rabbi Zev Prince, assistant principal for Co-Curricular Life, invited students to prepare for the Student Activities Fair by reviewing the opportunities listed in the Student Life Guidebook highlighting the incredible range of teams, clubs, committees and crews for students to pursue their passions and develop their leadership skills. “It’s important for students to have a clear and straightforward way to access the opportunities available to them at Ma’ayanot” said Rabbi Prince. The Student Activities Fair featured the student leaders of school publications, academic teams, performing arts societies, school committees and student-created crews, who each invited freshmen, sophomores and transfer students to get involved. The leadership opportunities available are incredibly diverse and there is a place for every student to join! Rabbi Prince noted that students and faculty alike “were very impressed with our student leaders, who took primary responsibility to represent and promote their passions.”
Later that same day, students also participated in a Chesed Fair, in which several community organizations presented to the whole student body over Zoom, and students were invited to follow up individually with the organization of their choice. Chesed coordinator Zahava Moskowitz explained that this year chesed is an especially important program. “We want to help our students find new ways to help the organizations that serve our community, which themselves have had to adapt because of COVID-19. Even though the ‘how’ of doing chesed is different this year, chesed is still very much a paramount value and an achievable goal at Ma’ayanot.”
