On Thursday, February 21, Ma’ayanot won several awards at the annual Yeshiva League Model Congress, hosted by HAFTR at Lawrence High School. Ma’ayanot competed against HAFTR, SAR, Central, MTA, TABC, Ezra, Shalhevet, Frisch and Flatbush, for a total of close to 300 delegates. Under the guidance of Emma Horowitz, Ma’ayanot English teacher, team members met throughout the year to conduct research, learn how to draft a bill and lobby to get it passed. Congratulations to Ma’ayanot’s congresswomen who won the following awards: Chana Fischer tied for first place overall; Ora Hochberg (first in Ethics), Rachel Landesman (first in Banking), Tiferet Mondrow, (first in Foreign Affairs), Sophia Altman (first in Judiciary), (Zehava Shatzkes first in Science), Miriam Aliza Kahan (second in Transportation) Gaby Gotesman (second in Judiciary) and Daphna Lent (second in Energy). Looks like women are taking over the House!
