Ma’ayanot Freshmen Light The Path in Biology

Ma’ayanot freshman began their biology studies with a lesson connecting to the school year theme of “Ma’alin Ba’Kodesh, Be the Light.” After hearing from the faculty and administration about the exciting things to come this year and the message of “be the light,” the students entered their biology classrooms to find a candle lit! The students observed different aspects of the candle, noticing the flame flickering and melting the wax. This led to an energetic discussion about living organisms and their characteristics. For example, are flames living if they move and can create another flame? How do those observations compare to other living things we know about? The freshman kicked off their year in biology by lighting the path and are looking forward to a wonderful year of hands-on learning!
