Ma’ayanot JV Basketball Report

The Rapids JV Basketball Team had two strong games last week. On Monday night they topped local rival Frisch Cougars. Ma’ayanot came out with intensity and aggression to make up for the devastating 6-point loss to SAR the week before.

In the first half, freshman Jessie Orgel racked up 14, including three 3-pointers. Sophomores Alyssa Felder and Tamar Segal had the Cougars chasing their tails as they made steal after steal. Captain Michal Horn added 9 points, including a 3-pointer. Forward Sari Alexander helped on the boards with put backs and rebounds. She had 6 points in the first half.

The Cougars came out strong in the 3rd quarter, nailing a buzzer beater to bring themselves within a few points of the Rapids. In the 4th quarter, Ma’ayanot pulled away with the help of sophomore Racheli Zomberg (RZ) hitting some much needed jump shots including a 3-pointer. Orgel added another 7 points to let the Rapids breathe again. The final score was 50-31 Rapids and the young team seemed ready for a rematch with SAR.

On Thursday the Ma’ayanot Girls High School JV met up with the SAR Sting. The Sting seemed to have the Rapids’ number besting them in last year’s championship game and earlier this season. On this day, however, it was Ma’ayanots turn. Michal Horn and Jessie Orgel kept hitting their 3-pointers and jump shots, and Alissa Felder had some great steals! Sari Alexander and Leora Adler were grabbing rebounds! The loud non-stop cheering and encouragement from the bench really helped the team and players on the court; the Ma’ayanot Rapids achieved their win by everyone contributing and team effort! After a great game with a lot of effort from both teams Ma’ayanot achieved its goal of finally beating the SAR JV basketball team! It was a very close and intense game with a final score of 46-39!
