Starting the first round of the playoffs against Central, the Ma’ayanot Rapids soccer team scored six times before the end of the first half. Goals were scored by freshman Aleeza Berkowitz in the first quarter, followed by freshman Amanda Solomon. Then freshman Michal Mizrahi scored two goals at the beginning of the second quarter followed by another from Amanda Solomon and sophomore Sima Zand with less than two minutes to go before the half. Goalie Denny Tammam kept the goal protected by letting in only one score.
The second half brought more goals for the Rapids from freshman Mashi Cohen, another from Michal Mizrahi, and yet another by sophomore Abby Stiefel. The last goal was the result of a deflection in front of Central’s goal, which advanced the score to 9-1 for the Rapids, assuring them a victory.
The Rapids go to the Championship on May 21st at 8:30 p.m. at Frisch. The opponent will be either SAR or North Shore.
