Ma’ayanot’s Mishpacha Mishmar on November 7 brought together over 500 Ma’ayanot students, parents, grandparents, extended family members and friends for an evening of learning with the theme “All You Need Is Love.” The evening was sponsored by Meyer and Keren Muschel in memory of Sarah Muschel a”h, and featured shiurim from Tanach department chair Suzanne Cohen about Ahavat Yisrael, Talmud faculty member Rabbi Donny Besser about Ahavat Hashem, and English teacher Tammie Rapps about Rivka Imenu’s Love Languages. Each shiur included chavruta learning and related to caring for Am Yisrael at this time. The inspirational evening ended with the unveiling of a beautiful mosaic donated by the Rapps family in memory of Shirley Rapps a”h, which had been created communally by the entire student body, together with artist-in-residence Rena Fruchter.
Freshman Gavriella Sandler enjoyed the program, which “offered our Ma’ayanot families a beautiful opportunity to learn Torah in the meaningful way that we experience it in school each day with our outstanding teachers.” Her sister, junior Ayelet Sandler, added, “It was inspiring to see so many people learning from our amazing faculty, and wonderful to learn with my mother and my sister!” Their mother, Irit Sandler, also appreciated the opportunity to spend an evening learning at Ma’ayanot: “Each speaker tonight sparked our curiosity and delivered profound messages. Particularly during this challenging time for Am Yisrael, the takeaway of Ahavat Yisrael, our being part of a special and unified nation, was truly impactful. The unveiling of the stunning mosaic, crafted from broken shards and pieced together by students, faculty and parents of the Ma’ayanot family, served as a perfect conclusion to an evening dedicated to Torah study and fostering unity among Am Yisrael.”
