(Ma’ayanot sports) Sunday morning the Ma’ayanot Rapids and Frisch Cougars competed in their second soccer match of the season, but this time for championship. The Rapids lost 4-1 to Frisch in April, so they had to leave it all on the court today. The Rapids came out aggressive in the first quarter, getting shots on goal, but Frisch knocked in an early goal in the first quarter. The Rapids, however, never lost their fire and kept their heads up. They have been in this position before against this familiar team. Varsity senior captain Meital Rimberg answered the Cougars back with an amazingly unassisted goal in the second quarter. The teams were so evenly matched that all the fans held their breath for continuous suspenseful shots on goal saved by the talented goalies on both ends. Senior captain Bella Einhorn, and seniors Aliza Guzman, Sorah Fisher and Aviva Kurz were fierce on defense, stepping up to protect their goal at every shot. In the second quarter senior captain Mia Polonetsky gave a beautiful pass from the right wing to junior Irene Epstein in the middle to score the second goal of the quarter. The Rapids successfully kept their composure and didn’t let up any goals in the second half. Sophomore goalie Chana Isaacs had over 70 saves and was named MVP of the game. Final score: 2-1.
