Coming off a hard-fought opening night 10-6 victory vs. SAR, the Rapids traveled to Deal, NJ to face the Hillel Heat in their home opener.
The Heat came out on all cylinders excited to play in front of their home crowd and applied relentless pressure to score the first goal. The Rapids were not fazed, and behind their balanced attack broke the tie six minutes in with a quick goal. They then proceeded shut Hillel out for the remainder of the 1st quarter.
The 2nd quarter was no different as the Rapids scored again and while Hillel scored too, the Rapids held strong and responded to take a 4 to 1 lead into the half. The second half was no different as the Rapids dominated scoring 4 more goals to win the game by mercy 8-1.
The Rapids stayed strong, smart and balanced with a combined six different players lighting the lamp over the course of the game and 1 goal allowed by two goalies and stellar defense!
The Rapids look to stay hungry as they face last year’s defending champion, Frisch, on the road on March 22.
