“I believe that we will win.”
This is the song that brought victory to the Ma’ayanot Rapids, propelling them to the championship game for the second year in a row. This year they will play against Frisch, who they both beat and lost to this season.
There have been some incredible highlights from this season worth recognizing. Because of these mercy wins, grand slams and pop-up catches, the Ma’ayanot Rapids were so successful.
Opening day was incredible, not only because of Sarah Berman’s ’18 triple and Noa Applebaum ’17 striking out 8 players, but because Ma’ayanot beat Kushner using the mercy rule.
Even though the Rapids lost two games, they plowed through and beat Frisch, SAR and Bruriah all in less than a week. The Frisch-SAR doubleheader was festive because the Rapids celebrated Sima Zand’s ’16 birthday at the game, complete with balloons, cake and excited fans. In the first game, against Frisch, the Rapids won with a mercy. The second game was all the more amazing. Ma’ayanot beat SAR under the guidance of their talented captains: Noa Applebaum, Sima Zand and Elisheva Katz ’16.
To add to their list of mercy wins, the Rapids beat Bruriah with one as well.
Becca Malech ’18 got the game ball when the Rapids beat SKA. She hit an outstanding triple, which brought in numerous runs.
The final win of the playoff season was against Central; the Rapids beat them 14-2. That win brought the Rapids to the championships yet again. This time they have home field advantage.
