In response to Mr. Maurice Appelbaum’s article, “Thoughts on the Capitol Insurrection and the BLM Movement” (January 21, 2021), I have to agree with him that there is seemingly no comparison between the BLM and the rioters on the Capitol. A better comparison is between those rioters and Antifa, which seems to be an ally to the BLM. Antifa joined the BLM demonstrations that might have been peaceful—the only one that I personally saw was in Teaneck and was indeed peaceful—and made those demonstrations violent, destructive and murderous. Yet I did not hear BLM distancing themselves from Antifa, so I must assume that they are one and the same. So there goes the BLM peacefulness!
This is in stark contrast with the establishment of the GOP that, yes, distanced itself from the rioters on the Capitol.
When you make false comparisons and think that your readers are primitive enough to swallow such a false comparison, you actually laugh in the face of your audience and mock them.
Now for the BLM itself, assuming that they are NOT one and the same as Antifa (and thus, indeed, are not comparable to the rioters on the Capitol). The BLM decided not to be neutral in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to lend its support to the Palestinians’ attempt to delegitimize the whole idea that Jews have rights and have rights in Israel. There was yet another infamous movement that had such notions, the Nazi party. To me, anybody who has such notions and their supporters (including Antifa and the BLM)—all these are not partners for anything; they are the enemy!
