Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Yeshivat Noam invited local day schools to join together to offer a lay leadership training seminar with fundraising coach Amy Schiffman of Giving Tree Associates. The Moriah School, Yavneh Academy, Solomon Schechter of Bergen County, and Ben Porat Yosef were excited to jump in and recruit campaign ambassadors to attend the evening workshop. Together, the five schools, represented by 75 attendees, spent the evening learning how to be more strategic fundraisers with the goal of increasing the dollar amount raised for each school.

“Bergen County schools could raise tuition and charge the cost of educating each child, however, that would increase the tuition burden to the already struggling families in our community,” shared Amy Vogel, Development Director of Yeshivat Noam. “Instead, the shared philosophy is to fundraise the additional necessary dollars to run our schools and inspire those that are capable of giving.”

Amy Schiffman emphasized that asking for dollars is more effective when it is a peer to peer solicitation and that is why it is important to train volunteers to “make the ask” for the Bergen County Jewish day schools.
