Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Founded in 1943, Manhattan Day School/Yeshiva Ohr Torah is a Modern Orthodox day school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan serving toddlers through eighth grade. The warm, vibrant, Torah community of MDS nurtures the light in each student. Our environment cultivates each student’s individuality while celebrating our collective energy. Our warm and welcoming school community embraces students and families from around the city and around the world, and celebrates the diversity of customs and backgrounds represented. It is powerful to be part of a community that is an 80 year old day school that is always evolving to meet the needs of today’s children.

Our core goals are to inspire our children to develop a love of Hashem, the Jewish people, Torah and Israel—through learning and living the texts and traditions of Am Yisrael with joy.

We aim to cultivate a lifelong foundation of midot and ethics—through the fostering of a school culture of respect, safety and kindness. Our students engage in a dynamic exploration of the world around them—through immersion in the humanities; math, science and emerging technologies; art and music; and the history and culture of our vibrant democracy and global community.

We offer dynamic instruction in Judaic studies, literacy, Ivrit and STEAM, rich music and visual arts programs, and a warm community with differentiated instruction for all students. Join us for our Open House on Monday November 6, to feel the warmth of MDS!
