(Courtesy of Peter Berkowsky) The 35th International Minyan for NYC Marathoners—the longest established religious service of any kind at any major sporting event anywhere in the world—was held on Sunday morning, November 4, at the Fort Wadsworth staging ground on Staten Island. Nearly 200 participated in the three pre-race minyanim. These photos were taken in front of the spacious tent provided for minyan participants by race host New York Road Runners.
This year’s minyan was dedicated to those killed and wounded the week earlier in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. Tzedaka collected at this year’s minyan is going to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
