In response to the letter from “Name withheld on request” (“Are Masks Medically Necessary,” June 4, 2020) regarding the necessity for continued wearing of masks, which quotes from a recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine, recognized as the most prestigious medical journal in America if not the world, I would like to note that the authors rapidly followed up with a clarifying letter to disparage the notion that they are not endorsing the continued use of masks in most situations.

They state, “The intent of our article was to push for more masking, not less,….”
