Chessed Week kicked off with a burst of energy. On Monday, fifth-eighth graders jumped into action, rolling up their sleeves to volunteer at organizations like Masbia, Meals on Wheels, Yachad and Yad Leah. These acts of kindness set the tone for the week, shining a light on the school’s theme this year, מאירים את העולם—illuminating the world through good deeds. Each grade took this message to heart, getting involved in meaningful ways to spread kindness.
On Tuesday, first graders warmed hearts by visiting their elderly neighbors at West End Residences, sharing smiles and songs. Meanwhile, third and fourth graders went downtown to visit Knock Knock Give a Sock, where they learned about homelessness and taking action. They wrote thoughtful letters and packed over 200 socks for neighbors in NYC, making a real difference for those in need.
On Wednesday, second graders headed to Riverside Park, demonstrating care for the environment as they cleaned and beautified the area for the community’s enjoyment.
By week’s end, students had truly embraced the theme of מאירים את העולם, proving that even the smallest acts of kindness can light up the world. From volunteering with local organizations to helping the environment, they demonstrated that when they come together to do good, they brighten the lives of those around them. They truly embodied the spirit of chesed and made a lasting impact on the community.
