On Wednesday, April 10, Manhattan Day School hosted the CIJE Vex Robotics Lower School Tournament. Over 200 students representing 14 schools competed. Students designed their robots from scratch, positioning motors and gears allowing the robots to perform different tasks, like pushing and lifting objects. Students learned to control their robots, gained new engineering skills, and improved their problem-solving and communication skills through the process of building and controlling their robots. The tournament not only focused on earning the most points but also emphasized the importance of collaboration, communication, and sportsmanship by awarding badges to teams that displayed those character traits. MDS is extraordinarily proud of its team’s engineering skills, sportsmanship and positive energy they brought to each game, which was noticed by many of the judges as MDS was awarded the positive energy badges! The budding engineers should be proud of the hard work they put into competing in the tournament and are already looking forward to next year’s CIJE robotics competition!
