MDS grades four through six hosted Friends of the IDF for a special presentation focusing on the different ways they can help Israel and the IDF even while living in America. They focused on the famous phrase, “My heart is in the East, and I am in the West,” which beautifully expresses how we are always thinking and caring for Eretz Yisrael. The students have been organizing grassroots fundraisers over the past few months, raising money for the IDF. Through lemonade sales, bake sales, canteens, raffles and more, the MDS students raised over $12,000 for Israel. They saw various pictures and videos from soldiers on the frontlines thanking the students of MDS for their gifts. With some of that money, the students were able to present a donation to a representative from Friends of the IDF. The program ended with Tehillim and tefillah for the soldiers of the IDF. Seeing where their money actually goes, students walked away feeling proud of their hard work. Thank you to Stephanie Feit, of FIDF, and Dana Gibber for organizing such a beautiful program.
