It’s a new year and Manhattan Day School is excited about the new faces joining the MDS community!
MDS welcomes Emma Coniglio and Morah Jessica Vinokur to the lower school team, teaching first grade general studies and second grade Judaic Studies, respectively. With their charm and passion for education, Emma and Jessica are eager to meet their new students!
Additionally, Danielle Schlisser and Edie Koslowe join the middle school team, bringing years of general studies and social studies teaching experience and energy to the middle school.
Rabbi Zev Kahane and Rabbi Ben Katz join the Judaic Studies team and are looking forward to spreading the light of Torah and inspiring MDS students.
MDS is proud for the new shlichim, Reut and Michael Shahar, and bnot sherut, Ella and Shachar, to join the Manhattan Day School community. They are excited to educate MDS students about Medinat Yisrael and Hebrew language.
Dr. Pinny Feintuch and Dr. Shira Kaizler-Martin are joining the MDS mental health team to focus on individual student plans, social emotional learning and partnering with parents and teachers to help all students reach their potential.
A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Feintuch, received his doctorate in psychology from Long Island University and holds a bachelor’s in business. He utilizes a systemic approach in his work with administrators, teachers and families, recognizing how children and their behavior are impacted by the world around them. Dr. Feintuch has worked directly with students, from early childhood through college, providing psychological testing and psychotherapy. His clinical work is informed by a child-centered approach; he is attuned to each of his clients, offering empathy and unconditional positive regard. Along with his experience as a teacher and psychologist, he brings to MDS his warmth, humor, and desire to make an impact on every member of the MDS community.
Kaizler-Martin earned her bachelor’s and master’s in psychology from Tel Aviv University and the Academic College of Tel Aviv Yaffo and is a certified school psychologist. Kaizler-Martin is also a certified CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) therapist, and enjoys bringing her unique skill set, experience and multi-disciplinary approach, to assist children, adolescents, parents and faculty overcome emotional and social challenges. Over the years, Kaizler-Martin has specialized, both in the public sector and in private practice, in treatment for learning disabilities, emotional regulation, ADHD, phobias, anxieties and depression. Kaizler-Martin will be focusing her time on early childhood students, collaborating with Dr. Feintuch and Morah Shani Skydell.
The MDS administration, led by the new Head of School Dr. Pesha Kletenik, is excited to onboard these new members of the faculty as they join the MDS family.
