David Tanner of New York City is this year’s MTA senior class valedictorian. Throughout his four years at MTA, David assumed various leadership roles, including Mock Trial team captain, co-editor-in-chief of weekly Torah publication “Shema Koleinu,” co-editor-in-chief of the school paper “The Academy News,” co-editor of historical publication “The Polis,” and co-editor of the yearbook The Elchanite. In addition to these responsibilities, David displayed his considerable talents as co-editor-in-chief of “Kol Hanearim,” a joint Torah publication, which includes numerous yeshiva high schools. He also participated in MTA’s Senior Fellowship Program, where he had the opportunity to meet and learn with Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Hershel Reichman. David is the recipient of the Yeshiva University Torah U’Madda Book Award and has also received a New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence. He will attend Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh next year, followed by the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program at Yeshiva University.
Noam Putterman of Bergenfield is this year’s senior class salutatorian. Noam’s involvement in MTA spans across multiple areas, including the basketball seam, soccer team and tennis team, as well as the math team, College Bowl team and captain of the championship-winning chess team. He is also a National Honors Society Officer and co-editor-in-chief of the school paper “The Academy News,” co-editor of historical publication “The Polis,” and editor of the school’s weekly e-newsletter, “A Lion’s Life.” Noam has been named a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Competition for exceptional academic promise. He also participated in MTA’s Senior Fellowship Program, where he had the opportunity to meet and learn with Yeshiva University Professor of Jewish History and Jewish Thought and senior scholar at the Center for the Jewish Future Rabbi Dr. JJ Schacter. Noam will attend Yeshivat Har Etzion next year, followed by Yeshiva University.
