Recovery at the Crossroads is an addiction center in Washington Township, offering specialized programs to help overcome drug addiction. See below for information on their exceptional staff:
Ann Marie Bescherer, PhD, MBA, NCC, LPC, LCADC, ACS, founder and CEO of The Institute for Hope & Healing, LLC
Ann Marie is a specialized consultant; in that role she leads trauma groups and conducts individual sessions with our clients using eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.
Since completing her master’s degree in counseling psychology in 1996, Ann Marie has been fascinated by the study of severe and persistent psychopathology that impacts human functioning in today’s world. Her passions are associated with assisting clients in attaining the highest level of well-being they are capable of in maintaining stability. Specifically, she enjoys working with clients with complex co-occurring disorders as well as personality disorders. Her research interests are in measuring treatment outcomes within this treatment population as well as matching an individual’s preferred learning style to treatment interventions that are consistent with how they can best process information.
Ann Marie is local to Gloucester County, where she grew up and attended elementary and high school. She still lives in the area with her husband, Rudy, an emergency department physician. Ann Marie is an avid runner and stays linked to the South Jersey community and her family in Gloucester County. Recovery is blessed to have her partnership and pleased to focus on her as our Staff Member of the Month!
