Emunah of America’s President, Karen Spitalnick, announced the appointment of Mel Zachter as its fiscal operations consultant. Mel joins Emunah at a critical time in its continued growth, and will be a member of the senior cabinet of the organization, assisting in its efforts to enable Emunah Israel to provide essential care and services for thousands of challenged and needy children, adolescents and adults in Israel.
Following a stellar career at Loeb & Troper LLP, where he advanced to become the Executive Partner, and assuming a leading volunteer role in several major not-for-profit organizations in the United States, Mel is bringing his extensive knowledge and experience to Emunah of America, which is responsible for providing major support for the programs of Emunah Israel.
Emunah Israel cares for all generations, from newborns through seniors, in five large residential complexes, 135 day-care centers and afterschool programs, a Torah and Arts High School, a college of Art and Technology and crisis counseling centers located throughout the entire country. Emunah Israel has an annual operating budget equivalent to $160,000,000.
Mel Zachter is the co-president of OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services, an active member of the boards of Hatzolah of Staten Island, the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School, Bnos Bais Yaakov of Far Rockaway and Bikur Cholim of Staten Island, and a former member of the boards of United Jewish Council of the Lower East Side, the Young Israel of Staten Island, Governor Hospital and The Young Israel of Manhattan.
“My colleagues on the Board of Emunah of America know that there are so many people throughout the United States who are interested in supporting the activities of Emunah in Israel. A stronger Emunah of America will enable more of them to partner with projects close to their hearts,” said President Spitalnick. “Mel, together with the other professionals on the Emunah of America staff, are ready to work together with our donors, large and small, to assure that every Emunah child and family can live a good life knowing that they will have a safe and secure future. I welcome Mel, and know that he will make a difference in today’s Emunah of America, and help us prepare to make a difference in Israel for years to come.”
