Monday night June 27 marked the beginning of the playoffs for the Men’s league. In the first game of the quarter finals The Tree Point Play faced off against the Jewish Link of New Jersey team. These two squads last faced each other in the season opener; Tree Point Play took the game 39-30. This game was also close throughout but when the final buzzer sounded Tree Point Play advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday with a 51-50 victory.
In the night cap, The Rothenberg Law Firm www.Injurylawyer.com team meet up with Camp Shalom Blue. When these teams played earlier in the season Camp Shalom walked away with a convincing 53-36 victory, but as a spectator told me before the game “this is the playoffs, anything can happen”. When the game began it looked like the spectator had a crystal ball, with The Rothenberg Law Firm www.Injurylawyer.com taking an early lead but with some clutch shooting from Dani “snipes” Rubin and Mendy “the other snipes” Strulowitz. The Camp Shalom men secured a 56-19 victory and a chance to play again on Wednesday night. Special mention to Camp Shalom captain Joey Shatzkes who earned the regular season hustle award for his gritty play in the key.
At the time of printing the Final two rounds have yet to be played: Tree Point Play vs Yavneh Academy and Camp Shalom Blue vs Team Heichal HaTorah will be played Wednesday night, with the championship game on Thursday. Stay tuned to next week’s Jewish Link of New Jersey for a complete recap.
