This past Sunday saw the much anticipated opening of the MGBL Boys season. This week’s spotlight game occured in the back gym at Yeshivat Ben Porat Yosef, where team I Shine Teaneck was facing team Columbiadoctors.org of 5th/6th grade.
The Columbiadoctors.org boys came out ready to play, building a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second period was not any kinder to team I Shine Teaneck, as the score showed them, down 13 at the half. I Shine Teaneck coaches Vogel and Glick told their team “not to give up.” The team took the message and responded, with balanced scoring by team members Jake Glick (6pts), Judah Vogel (5pts), Kovi Lightman (5pts), Avi Summers (5pts) and Noah Gutlove (4pts).
The score was tied at 26 at the end of regulation. In overtime, i-Shine Teaneck, playing with two top contributors fouled out and on the bench, was not able to withstand the playmaking abilities of Columbiadoctors.org players Moshe Keiser and Michael Green’s inside presence, which proved to be too much for i-Shine Teaneck.
