This week’s spotlight game takes us to Ma’ayanot High School, where team Confie matched up with Arnold Schoen MD. Both teams entered the game with identical records, in search of another victory in this last game of the regular season.
Confie took the early lead 7-6 at the end of the first quarter on a huge three pointer from Ezra Haselkorn. Arnold Schoen kept pace in the second, with a 3 pointer from Jared Pomarlen, but when the half came to a close Confie was clinging to a one point lead 15-14.
Twenty five seconds into the the second half, Eliezer Nat gave Arnold Schoen its first lead of the game at 15-16. That basket seemed to turn the tide, along with strong performances from Aron Skoczylas (10 points) and Yitzchak Hagler (14 points), team Arnold Schoen never looked back.
After the game, Arnold Schoen coach Binyamin Schmutter commented that the only damper on the win is that Dr. Schoen (usually a regular at all team games) was unable to attend. We look forward to seeing Dr. Schoen at future games as his team looks to make it to their third championship in the last four seasons.
