This past weekend featured more exciting MGBL action, with many hard fought games, but the sportsmanship displayed by the girls was more noteworthy than any individual victory. This week’s spotlight game took place at Ben Porat Yosef between the Bergen Veterinary Hospital team and team Washington Ave Pediatrics. It was a fast paced back and forth defensive battle, but when the final buzzer sounded the score was tied. The most remarkable thing about the game was not the score but the post-game scene. The referee told The JLNJ, “It was an amazing sight. I have refereed thousands of games, but have never seen anything like this. The girls went beyond the traditional high fives and handshakes. They were sincerely congratulating each other on a well-played game, very impressed.”
