This week’s spotlight game takes us to Yeshivat Ben Porat Yosef, where team Sharsheret faced off against the V&N Realty girls. Emma Kinches got the scoring started for V&N Realty, when she sank the first of two free throws. Sharsheret answered back with four of Elisheva Piotnica’s game high 18 points and a baseline jumper from Hannah Reider to take a 6-1 lead after the first quarter. The two teams traded baskets in the second and third quarters, leaving Sharsheret with a 18-14 lead going into the fourth. In the fourth, Sharsheret extended the lead, getting contributions from five different players (Sophia Paul, Mikaela Koenig, Yael Motechin, Reider and Piontica) to take a 32-18 lead going into the final frame. V&N Realty came out pumped and determined to chew away at the deficit one basket at a time, led by Gaby Kalis (eight of her team high 16 points) and Orli Scharf (10 points). With seconds to play V&N Realty went on a 14-2 run, came within one basket of a tremendous comeback. When the final buzzer sounded Sharsheret was still on top, with a 34-32 win.
