This week’s spotlight game takes us to Yeshivat Ben Porat Yosef for the nightcap game of Motzei Shabbat action. Space Jam vs. The Rothenberg Law Firm LLP got off to quick start with a 3 pointer by Aaron Heumann and continued to pile it on with baskets from Jared Kinches and Avraham Rivkin. Meanwhile, nothing was falling for team Space Jam as they found themselves in a big hole when the first buzzer sounded. Led by sharpshooter Shmoozie Rosen’s game high 21 points, the Space Jam team spent the next four quarters chipping away at the deficit. A task not made easy with the dominant post presence of The Rothenberg Law Firm LLP’s Yona Luber (team high 16 points).
Space Jam took their first lead of the game on a Yoni Rosenberg and one with 2.23 to play. Ari Gilad and Boaz Orbach padded the lead with three free throws. Luber and the Rothenberg Law Firm LLP team were not about to give up without a fight. Luber deposited a put-back to bring it back to tie the game with mere seconds to play. Space Jam’s coach extraordinaire Ami Rosen drew up an inbounds play. After getting the ball into Ryan Brandwein, The Rothenberg Law Firm LLP committed a foul sending Brandwein to the line with.5 seconds on the clock. A silent crowd watched the first shot rim out but when the second shot found nothing but net, Space Jam walked away with a season opener victory.
