This week’s spotlight game takes us to Ben Porat Yosef for some Motzei Shabbat Madness, with playoff positioning on the line. In the first game on court one, Redwood Funding face off against Family First Funding. Redwood Funding got off to an early lead with hot shooting from Bentzion Keiser (six of his team high 19 points) and Yonatan Brothman (four of his 12 point), but Family First Funding’s Tamir Citron dominated the middle, scoring eight of his game high 22 points in the first half. The second half was back and forth with neither team able to build more than a five point lead. When the final buzzer sounded, Redwood Funding found themselves on the long side of a 43-42 game as they collected their second win of the season.

In the second game on court two, Cross River matched up with Goldman Orthodontics, two 4-2 teams jockeying for playoff positioning. Goldman’s Zachary Milgrom outscored Cross River in the first half with 14 of his game high 22 points. In the second, Cross River turned on the intensity lead by Zachary Rothschild (16 points) and Dovid Lichstein (14 points). The two team were tied at 40 with seconds to play, when Milgrom shook his defender and pulled up for a jumper that found nothing but nylon as Goldman Orthodontics took home the win and the number three spot heading into next week’s playoffs.

Next week’s action will kick of season 10 of MGBL boys playoff action at Yeshivat Noam, Ma’ayanot High School, Ben Porat Yosef and Yavneh Academy.
