This week’s spotlight game takes us to Ben Porat Yosef for some Motzei Shabbat March Madness as Core Home Boys faced Redwood Funding in round one of the postseason. Redwood Funding jumped out to a commanding 16-2 lead at the end of the first quarter, with an offensive barrage orchestrated by Azarya Rosenberg and Bentzion Keiser. The Core Home Boys refused to quit, and chipped away at the deficit in the second. One possession at a time, they battled back and finished the half down only one.
The second half saw several lead changes but the lights-out shooting of Dov Zomberg and Joe Mogul, post play of Hillel and Akiva Fried and precision passing of Ezra Epstein carried Core Home Boys to an eight point lead heading into the final period of play. The Redwood Funding team worked too hard all season to give up now, and went on a 4-0 run of their own. However Core Home Boys, showed they were tough to the core. Despite not having change of a dollar they played a terrific game and advance to the elite eight.
After the first weekend of playoff action there were many amazing games, all who participated are truly winners but we must bid a fond farewell to the following teams: Frankowitz Orthodontics, EJ’s Place, Fertility Institute, Triumph Hotels, Wolverines, GYMGUYZ #1 in Home Personal Training, Bergen Veterinary Hospital, Gan Henel, Jawbreakers, Design Statements LLC, Kindersmiles, Redwood Funding, Mathnasium, EmbroidMe, Cross River, Project Ezrah, Granolachik, Congregation Rinat Yisrael, Nothing But Net…work Doctor, Arnold Schoen MD, Prime Ortho Rehab, Space Jam, Sharsheret and Chopstix. March Madness continues next this coming weekend with games at Ma’ayanot High School and Ben Porat Yosef.
