Within days of the 11th yahrzeit of Mitch Gross, a”h, the league that proudly carries his name kicked off this years high school boys division. The league showcases some of the top local ball players from six different schools, several counties in New Jersey and well as New York City, Riverdale and Rockland county. Saturday night’s games were exhibition, but the competition was intense and the games were exciting.

This weeks spotlight game features the Jewish Link of New Jersey vs. Duff & Phelps. Duff & Phelps go an early boost from 3 point land, as sharp shooter Aharon Tuchman found nothing but net on two of his first attempts. Jewish Link of New Jersey’s Pesach Abrahams answered back with two treys of his own and The Jewish Link of New Jersey took a 35-33 lead into the half. The intensity revved up in the second half, with Duff & Phelps’ Liam Levy (6 points) and Eitan Pfeiffer (game high 26 points) pushed the ball up court on almost every possession. However the long arm of The Jewish Link of New Jersey’s Billy Krause and Yonah Hook, sent several shots back and picked off enough passes to capture the 55-54 victory.

The top scorer of the week goes to Akari Therapeutics Plc’s Shmuli Coates with 39 points. Land Rush Title Agency Llc’s Yoni Mann comes in as a close second averaging 33 points per game.
