Genealogy Club of Central Jersey to Meet in July
The next meeting of the Genealogy Club of Central Jersey (GCCJ), sponsored by the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, will take place on Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at Congregation Ahavas Achim, 216 S 1st Ave, Highland Park, NJ.
This meeting is intended as a follow-up to Lew Meixler’s excellent discussion, at our June meeting, of materials that are available for genealogical research. The purpose of our forthcoming meeting will be to discuss “Jump-Starting Your Genealogical Research.”
Knowing where to start can, in many cases, save a huge amount of your time and effort. Doing genealogy was once a solitary task. There was no way to find out who else, if anyone, was doing research on the same families as you were. Today, with the numerous aids that are available, it’s a simple matter to find colleagues with whom you can compare notes and share discoveries! At our meeting, you’ll have an opportunity to try some of these methods for yourself, online.
If you know of persons who would be interested in attending, please feel free to invite them! This should be an excellent opportunity for persons interested in getting started in genealogy.
